When assessing Sean Carroll’s arguments against William Lane Craig, it is essential to remember that Craig is arguing that physics cannot completely and fully explain the universe. Physics points beyond itself to a transcendent cause. We mention this because so many of Carroll’s objections to Craig seem question begging.

Craig, Carroll and the Limits of Cosmology

 There’s much to admire about Sean Carroll. Obviously, he has an extraordinary intellect. His remarkable communication skills, and his infectious enthusiasm for physics, were clearly evidenced in his debate with William Lane Craig. Carroll has graciously, yet carefully, distanced himself from New Atheists.

The Case for God in Seven Minutes or Less….

While taking part in a debate on the existence of God at the Literific Society at Queen’s University Belfast, I had to give a seven minute speech. (This is slightly different from what I actually said since I tried to include some responses to objections that had been raised.) 

In claiming that there is a God, I am not claiming that we can logically establish the existence of God with complete certainty.

Meaning, Morality and Jerry Coyne’s World

After Lawrence Krauss, Jerry Coyne seems to be the most likely candidate to inherit Richard Dawkins’ status as patron saint of New Atheism. He certainly has the qualifications – he is respected scientist who communicates complicated ideas with enviable ease. His recent dispute with New York Times columnist Ross Douthat reveals that he has none of the disqualifications: his worldview is far from coherent, and he is not above concealing an unconvincing argument behind bluff and bluster.
